Three bills, read free in five business days.

Send three bills

Every bill, read before you pay

We capture, check and explain every utility bill across your sites.

A long ledger page with one line underlined twice where the number jumps.

Most utility bills are paid by someone who has never seen the tariff. We read each one against the rate schedule and your baseline before it reaches accounts payable.

Bills arrive faster than anyone reads

A 40-site company gets about 1,400 utility bills a year: electric, gas, water and sewer, each with its own cycle and format. Accounts payable checks the total, not the meter multiplier, the read type or the rate schedule. Errors that repeat each month stay in the base, and next year’s budget is built on them.

What lands on your desk

  • Clean monthly numbers

Cost and usage by site, meter and commodity, ready by the 10th business day.

  • Errors caught early

Estimated reads, wrong multipliers and duplicate charges flagged before the payment date.

  • Variance in plain words

Every swing over 10% against the peg gets a one-line reason a CFO can read.

  • Data you own

A clean bill history in your own Portfolio Manager account and a CSV export each month.

What every month includes

  • Bill capture

Utility portal pulls or a forwarding inbox; paper bills scanned by your mailroom.

  • Line-by-line check

Rate schedule, read type, multiplier, demand, riders, taxes and late fees against the tariff.

  • Meter-to-site map

Every meter tied to a site, cost center and general ledger code.

  • Dispute handling

We file corrections with the utility and track each one to a credit on the bill.

  • Monthly report

One page per portfolio, one row per site, with drift against the peg marked.

  • Accrual file

Estimated cost for bills not yet received, ready for month-end close.

Example: a 32-store retailer on the Front Range

Example engagement, figures illustrative

A specialty retailer with 32 stores on Xcel Energy and Colorado Springs Utilities sends three bills for a Three-Bill Read. Two stores show demand billed on the wrong meter multiplier. On Bill Desk, month one maps 71 meters to stores, month two files two corrections, and from month three the controller gets one page by the 10th business day.

Indicative price

Indicative, from$12

Per meter per month for Bill Desk, with a $450 monthly minimum; the Three-Bill Read is free and Back-Bill Review is from $3,500. Every proposal is fixed-fee and itemized.

Bill tracking questions, answered

Which utilities and commodities do you track?

Electric, natural gas, water, sewer and stormwater from any U.S. utility, including Xcel Energy, Colorado Springs Utilities, Fort Collins Utilities and Black Hills Energy. Each analyst learns the tariff book for the utilities in your portfolio before reading a single account.

How do you get our bills?

Most clients sign a letter of authorization so we can pull bills from the utility portal. Others forward electronic bills to a dedicated inbox or have the mailroom scan paper bills. Either way, nothing changes about who pays the utility or when.

Do you pay the bills for us?

No. We check and explain the bills; your accounts payable team keeps paying them. Keeping payment separate means we never hold your money and you never lose sight of what leaves the bank.

What happens when you find an error?

We tell you within two business days, with the line, the tariff section and the amount in question. With your approval we file the correction with the utility in your name and track it until the credit shows on a bill. Any refund goes to you in full.

How long before the first monthly report?

Usually six weeks. The first month goes to collecting bills and mapping meters to sites; the second month produces the first full report. Portfolios over 200 meters can take one more cycle.
