Working with us
What kind of company do you work with?
Companies and nonprofits with 10 to 500 sites, or 20 to 2,000 meters, where facilities and finance share the utility budget. Retail chains, office portfolios, warehouses, restaurant groups and multi-site nonprofits are typical. A smaller portfolio can still start with a free Three-Bill Read.
Do you visit our sites?
When a site needs it. Inside the Front Range we visit from our Denver office and travel is included. Sites in other states are served remotely, with visits billed at cost. Most bill and tariff work needs no visit, because the answers sit in the bills, the interval data and the tariff book.
Who will we work with?
A utility analyst reads your bills, trained on the tariff books of your utilities before touching an account. An energy advisor holding a recognized credential, such as AEE Certified Energy Manager, leads any advisory or green power work. Benchmarking specialists file Portfolio Manager reports.
Do you promise savings?
No. We show what we checked, what we found and the tariff math behind it, and we file corrections where a bill is wrong. Whether a refund or a lower rate follows depends on the utility and on your load, so we do not promise either one.
How do we start?
Book a 30-minute bill review call, or send three bills for a free read. From there we quote a fixed fee in writing, you sign a letter of authorization for each utility, and the first phase, setting the baseline, begins. How it works shows the timeline.
Can you help with Energize Denver?
Yes. The City of Denver says Energize Denver applies to commercial and multifamily buildings in Denver of 5,000 square feet and larger. Our Benchmarking Filing sets up Portfolio Manager and files each year, and a qualified verifier checks the data where the city requires it. The city decides compliance, not us.
Data and access
Why do you need a letter of authorization?
Utilities release account records only to the account holder or to someone the holder names in writing. The letter lets us request 24 months of bills and interval data and raise billing questions in your name. It does not transfer the account or change who pays.
Who owns the data you collect?
You do. Bills, interval data, the meter map and the baseline workbook belong to you, and you get a CSV export each month. Benchmarking lives in your own Portfolio Manager account, shared with us, never in an account we control.
Do you need our utility portal passwords?
Only where a utility offers no other way in. We ask first for our own read-only login. Where we must use yours, it is kept in a password manager behind multi-factor authentication and never sent by email. Data security has the details.
What if some of our bills are paper?
That works. Your mailroom scans paper bills to a dedicated inbox, or we request copies from the utility under the authorization letter. A mix of paper, email and portal bills is normal; the meter map ties each one to the right site whichever way it arrives.
What happens to our data if we stop?
You keep all of it. Within 30 days of the end, we send a full export, delete our copies and confirm the deletion in writing. Your Portfolio Manager account stays as it is; you remove our sharing access and the history remains yours.
Fees and contracts
How are your fees set?
Each program has a published from price. After a call and a look at your site list, we quote a fixed fee in writing before work starts, and portfolios over the listed sizes are quoted per site. The pricing page lists every program with its price and scope.
Do you take a share of refunds?
No. Our fee is the same whether a review finds nothing or finds a large error, and any refund goes to you in full. A share of refunds rewards finding problems; a fixed fee lets us say plainly when a bill is right.
Do you earn commissions?
No. We take no commissions or referral fees from utilities, energy suppliers, solar developers, certificate sellers or installers. That keeps every green power comparison and every rate recommendation free of any reason to favor one answer over another.
How long are your contracts?
Studies such as a Rate Fit Review are one-time, fixed-fee engagements with a set length. Bill Desk and Interval Watch run for an initial 12-month term, and Bill Desk then continues month to month. Benchmarking Filing is priced per building each year.
Is travel extra?
Not inside the Front Range: visits to sites from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs are included in the fee. Visits to sites elsewhere are billed at cost, and we agree them with you before anyone travels. Most remote work needs no visit at all.
What does the Peg Baseline credit mean?
If you buy a Peg Baseline and then move to Bill Desk, the baseline fee is credited against your first year of Bill Desk. The baseline is the first phase of monthly tracking anyway, so you do not pay for it twice.
