What we hold and where

The short version. The privacy policy has the full one.

  • What we hold

Bills, interval data, account and meter numbers, your site list and signed authorization letters.

  • What we never hold

Bank details, payment cards or your money. Your team keeps paying the utility.

  • Least access

Only the analysts and advisor on your account can open its files; access ends when they move off it.

  • Portal logins

Kept in a password manager, never in email or spreadsheets; our own read-only login where the utility allows.

  • Multi-factor sign-in

Multi-factor authentication on every system that holds client data, including email and the password manager.

  • Encrypted storage

Files sit in encrypted storage and move between us only over encrypted connections.

  • Deletion on exit

Within 30 days of the end, we send a full export, delete our copies and confirm it in writing.

  • No resale

We never sell or share your data with suppliers, brokers or installers.

You own the data and account

Benchmarking lives in your own ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager account; we open one in your name if needed. Bills, the meter map and the baseline are yours, exported monthly. When the work ends, you remove our access and keep everything.

The terms, defined plainly

Letter of authorization (LOA)
A signed form letting us request your account records. It changes nothing about who pays.
Utility portal
The utility’s billing website. We ask for our own read-only login where offered.
Interval data
Use recorded every 15 minutes or so. It shows when a site peaks.
Green Button
A standard file format for utility usage data.
Portfolio Manager sharing
Lets you give us access to chosen properties, and take it back any time.

Data questions, answered

Who at Energy Peg can see our bills?

Only the people assigned to your account: the analysts who read your bills and the advisor who leads the work. Access is granted per client, not to the whole firm, and is removed when someone moves off your account.

Can we revoke access at any time?

Yes. You can withdraw an authorization letter in writing, change portal passwords and remove our Portfolio Manager sharing whenever you choose. We confirm in writing once our access is gone, and nothing you already hold is affected.

What happens to our data when we stop?

Within 30 days we send a full export of bills, interval data, the meter map and the baseline workbook, then delete our copies and confirm the deletion in writing. Portfolio Manager stays exactly as it is, because it was always your account.

Do you share our data with anyone?

Only with the utility, when we request records or file a correction for you, and with a qualified verifier if a benchmarking filing needs verification. We never sell data or pass it to energy suppliers, brokers, solar developers or installers.

Will you complete our vendor security questionnaire?

Yes. Send it to us with the engagement letter and we answer each question in writing, describing the controls on this page as they stand. If your security team wants to walk through the answers, we set up a call before any data moves.

Ask before you share anything

We walk through these controls on a 30-minute call, before any letter is signed.
